As I blogged a few days ago, the US Congress voted yesterday about whether or not they will pass a bill that will remove troops almost completely by this time next year. The bill was passed. It is going to be a showdown because President Bush has said over and over that if that bill passes he will veto it. I'll be looking forward to see what happens. 435 house seats (people) have debated and debated some more and will vote on this bill that is projected to pass fairly easily. Now the Senate will look it over and if they do get 67 votes of the 100 that there are. I do believe that those tens of thousands of troops that are over there need to be heard and I believe that Congress is doing that. If the people say that we need to leave...then it is not the Presidents right to bypass the people. Let's all hope that justice will be served. If the Senate gets 67 people to agree then that vote will override President Bush's veto. Next year will be year 5 of the Iraq war. I think we have given the Iraq government more than enough time to establish themselves in the region.
Congress and Bush, Showdown!

I'm interested in seeing what happens with the bill also. It's pretty much guaranteed that the President will veto the bill as the White House has been reporting. We'll see though. But if he does the Senate can still override as you said. If the pull out does happen as they say, being pretty much done by April that would definitely cut Shawn's tour short - no complaints from me.
