JaMarcus Russell was chosen number one overall by the Los Angeles...I mean Oakland Raiders. For those of you who didn't hear it Gene Washington, from what I've read, didn't say the "Oakland Raiders" but instead said the "Los Angeles Raiders" by accident. Or was it? Either way the Raiders got their franchise QB whom I don't really know whether or not will ever become a legit NFL starter. He has the talent, don't get me wrong, but I don't know if he really has the heart for it. For the Raiders sake I hope he works out well for them. Too bad they still don't have an Offensive Line for him, however; Russell weighs about 400lbs so he should be able to stay on his feet (I hope you read my exaggeration there, he weighs about 260). Definitely liked the Michael Bush pick, the dude is a good RB and will fit in nicely.
Here are my top 5 winners of this draft (Teams):
1) San Francisco 49ers -With Patrick Willis and Joe Staley the Niners filled one immediate need at Linebacker as well as the Offensive Tackle position on the Line.
2) Cleveland Browns- Selected Joe Thomas and Brady Quinn to get a sure starter Offensive Tackle and their franchise Quarterback.
3) Carolina Panthers- Getting both Jon Beason and Dwayne Jarrett were both very good picks as well as Ryan Kalil and Tim Shaw in the 2nd round.
4) Oakland Raiders- Obviously as I stated above the Raiders got their franchise Quarterback, they also picked up Zack Miller Tight end out of Arizona State and Running back Michael Bush. Not to mention they also picked up Quentin Moses a Defensive End.
5) Tampa Bay Bucs- With the selections of Gaines Adams, Sabby Piscitelli, and Quincy Black tells me that John Gruden wants to continue to keep the Tampa-2 Defense as one of the best Defenses in the league...they still will have to find an Offense though.
The Team with the best weekend has to be:
The San Francisco 49ers- The Niners were able to draft 3 guys that are extremely talented and will be vital to the overall growth of Defense and Offense. Patrick Willis is the extreme stud Linebacker from Ole Miss. He will solidify the young Linebacking core of the 49ers. Joe Staley the big strong Offensive Tackle out of Central Michigan will continue to help keep Alex Smith from getting hammered as well as keeping Frank Gore running wild on opposing defenses. With an absolute steal of a pick in the 3rd round the Niners were able to select Wide Receiver Jason Hill out of Washington State. The dude is fast at 4.37 combine speed and he is stout at 6'0 ft 210 pounds. What caps the Niners as the biggest weekend winners is that they were able to steal (and I mean steal) the Seattle Seahawks #1 Wide Receiver for their 3rd 4th round selection. Darrell Jackson has been a beast up in Washington and is still only 28 years old. He has had some injury problems in the past couple of years but I'm positive that the Niners medical staff made sure to thoroughly check him to make sure that he wouldn't be a huge gamble.
I will say this: The New England Patriots have had a pretty darn good offseason, I think the Niners edge them a little bit, but I'm biased. I do think and hope that the Moss trade really comes to bite the Patriots in the butt. Randy Moss is not a good character guy and isn't a team player. Why the Patriots would trade for him is almost beyond me. What I do understand is that Bill Bellichick is getting ready to move on from New England and he wants to go out with one more "Bang!"...SuperBowl. The Patriots are playing for this year and boy I hope that they fall flat on their faces. Nothing personal against the Patriots but I do think they have overstayed their welcome as the dominant team of the AFC. I hope to see a newcomer, maybe the Bengals or the Chargers this year. I don't care if the Patriots get to the playoffs I'm sure they will but I hope that they get taken down before they get into the Superbowl.

Hey Deasil,
I tagged you with a meme on my blog. Please check it out.
Okay so I'm not even going to pretend that I made it through the whole post. I tried, I just get lost in sports talk. Don't get me wrong I'll watch a game - while reading a book or scrapbooking and just check out the instant replays when something happens but I've never gotten 'into' it. Shawn was watching part of the draft the other day and it almost put.me.to.sleep. Glad you're blogging though!
Moss is an ass... but if anybody can get him to walk the line its Belichek. It was interesting to see what a team guy Corey Dillon became. They got Moss for next to nothing (a 4th round pick and greatly reduced salary) - I think its worth the chance.
I do agree on one thing... I like the Bengals.
p.s. Are you blowing off my meme?
